Foliar feeding has been tested in universities since the 1940’s and proven effective as a supplement to ground fertility programs. Foliar fertilization is an effective method of circumventing the soil enforced, pH dependent root absorption of nutrients. Foliar feeding is extremely efficient in supplying nitrogen and potassium compared to soil applied N&K. Up to 95% of the nitrogen and potassium feed in a foliar manner is available to the plant. In ground applications at least 50% of the nitrogen is lost and up to 80% of the potassium becomes "fixed" and unavailable to the plant. Agro-K’s line of dextro-lac elemental nutrients are specifically formulated for maximum plant availability. They are easily assimilated through the leaf and fruit surfaces. The unique complexing (manufacturing) process of our dextro-lac products involves attaching protein and sugar molecules to the basic element molecules. Our highly available and easily absorbed nutrients will give you larger, sweeter, and more colorful fruits and vegetables. Application Foliar: Apply 1 to 2 quarts per acre (2.5 to 5 liters per hectare) with sufficient water for thorough coverage. For best results, spray in early morning or late afternoon. Do not apply during the “sunlight” hours when air temperature is above 85° F/30° C. Foliar fertilization is intended to supplement standard ground fertility programs and will not by itself provide all nutrients normally required by agricultural crops. Ground: Apply 2 to 4 quarts per acre (5 to 10 liters per hectare). Ground application can be via conventional ground sprayer or metered through irrigation. Increasing a plant’s element nutrient levels is not a simple as applying 100 or 200 pounds per acre of one or more products. In fact, it is not uncommon for plants grown in soils rich in a particular element to so tissue deficiencies in that same element. It is not how much product one applies that makes the difference but rather the "availability of use" of the product that is important. Most conventional ground applied fertilizers have limited availability of use thus requiring growers to apply many pounds more than necessary to ensure an adequate amount of nutrients are available. Nutrient up-take by plant roots is constrained by the soil’s pH. Each element is has its preferred pH, where it is most available, and its non-preferred pH(s) where it is least available.
